Before the internet started to enter the televisions, it was up to the very weak Set-Top TV-boxes to provide additional entertainment. I helped produce some 35 TV-games at NDS. Typically 3 productions at the same time.
The crazy size limit for the entire game including sound was around 500K! So it was a return to pixel-like graphics and a fun challenge to see how cool you could make it within the limits. The tileset for American Dragon (see below) is great example of that.
